Roseanne Wooler

Roseanne Wooler is a documentary photographer from Cheltenham studying her final term of BA (hons) Press and Editorial Photography at Falmouth university in Cornwall. Most of her photography has documented the workings of specific subcultures such as Bikers and Cosplayers. Most of her work is digital but the love for traditional shooting methods and processes is still very important. In the future Rosie hopes to travel and work on producing photography that covers some important environmental topics of today, and teach English in foreign schools. She also cant wait to read the massive pile of books shes stacked up to the side over the years of her distracting degree!

These images are from an ongoing project that i have undertaken for my final major project at Falmouth Uni studying Press and Editorial Photography. It is a work in progress, but when finished it will hopefully be a study of the stroudwater navigation and thames and severn canal, all that is west of the sapperton tunnel. Im trying to highlight the importance of the work that the volunteers are doing on the canals to restore them to their former glory by meeting people who live on barges and peoples whose homes line the banks of the canals, ive also met a lot of volunteers and people from different organisations all making the restorations happen. The volunteers are giving up their time to preserve these ancient waterways that are so important to our countries landscape, wildlife and a major part of our countries industrial history. My idea stemmed from the urge to document something environmental, and the closeness I had to the subject matter itself, living in Gloucestershire all my life and having grandparents that have owned a barge.
